Variable Recruitment Systems
Multi-fiber manifolds and valves to allow individual fiber activation
Load-Optimized Operation
In actuators utilizing bundles of Adaract’s artificial muscles, Adaract’s patented Variable Recruitment System (VRS) allows for the discrete, dynamic control of individual fibers. Just as your car’s transmission shifts gears to provide optimal fuel efficiency, Adaract’s actuators activate or deactivate fibers to ensure optimal performance across a wide range of load conditions.
Adaract’s VRS can provide significantly improved efficiencies when compared to traditional systems that utilize throttling to control the motion of hydraulic actuators, especially when multiple actuators are connected to a central hydraulic power unit.
Furthermore, Adaract’s VRS can provide hydraulic regenerative braking in applications requiring controlled eccentric motion. If your system has stringent energy usage requirements (such as in mobile robotics, aviation, or powered orthotics and prosthetics), Adaract’s VRS may be the solution.
